Area 09 Pre-Conference Mock Conference

Area 09 Pre-Conference Mock Conference

April 13, 2025 by District 04 MSCA 09

Area 09 Pre-Conference Mock Conference

Sunday, April 13 Area 09 Pre-Conference Mock Conference 9:00am – 3:00pm PST (hybrid)

Sunday – April 13 – 8 am to 3 pm – Day 2 is the Pre-Conference Mock Conference Assembly

The Pre-Mock Conference Workshop is a day where everyone involved has the fun opportunity to act like a delegate for the day and deliberate on agenda items “in committee” – just like our delegate will do at the General Service Conference from April 27 to May 3!

GSRs and AA individuals are randomly assigned 1 of 6 committees on the day of the event, and DCMCs and Area Chairs are pre-assigned to 1 of the 6 committees that was discussed at the March Area Service Committee. (Reminder: GSRs who attended the March ASC and were assigned a committee breakout will join the same committee on April 13). (Please see the alternate delegate’s page for access to the workgroup assignments. Password protected: Panel74).

The outcome of this assembly will allow the delegate to know “Area 9’s group conscience” as discussed through the work group committees. Scribes of the Workgroup assignments will provide the committee’s recommendation via the Survey Monkey/Workgroup packet and share this information at the microphone. Workgroups will also have the opportunity to discuss three pre-assigned General Service Conference inventory questions (English – HERE Spanish – HERE) and discuss the motion to approve the Spanish Translation of The Plain Language Big Book.

The Responsibility Statement of Alcoholics Anonymous

I am responsible. When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there. And for that: I am responsible.

Copyright © by AA Grapevine, Inc.

    • Written in 1965: It was authored by former AA trustee Al S. specifically for the 1965 International Convention in Toronto. • Conference Approved: The General Service Conference affirmed its exact spirit and wording in 1971 and again in 1977, noting that the declaration should never be changed. • Bill W.'s Endorsement: It was famously recited by AA co-founder Bill W. alongside 100 other members at the Toronto convention to emphasize the fellowship’s global duty to suffering alcoholics.

    Core Meaning

    • Global Outreach: The phrase "anyone, anywhere" expands the member's sense of duty beyond their local group, extending it to the global fellowship. • Action-Oriented: It takes the principles of AA's Twelfth Step—which calls members to carry the message—and turns them into a personal pledge of availability. • Personal Ownership: The opening and closing lines emphasize that the success and continuity of AA ultimately rely on the individual commitment of each member.
