April 1, 2026, Business Meeting Minutes

April 8, 2026 by District 04 MSCA 09

May 6, 2026: A call for a motion to approve minutes from the previous month was heard and seconded. The minutes were approved. District 04 MSCA 09 (Mid-Southern California Area 09), a General Service division of Alcoholics Anonymous located in the Long Beach area.

The District 04 MSCA 09 business meeting from April 1, 2026, covered several key organizational updates, elections, and financial decisions:

â—Ź Elections & Appointments:
  â—‹ Don O. was unanimously voted in as the new District Secretary.
  â—‹ Angela stood for and was voted in as the GSR School chair
  â—‹ Matthew was voted in as the Website Committee chair
  â—‹ Chandler was voted in as the LGBTQ+ DCM.

â—Ź Delegate’s Report:
  â—‹ Debra discussed the upcoming general service conference, gave tutorials on finding background information on the area website, and emphasized the importance of filling out the agenda survey by April 20th.

â—Ź Financial Decisions:
  â—‹ The 2026 Budget was officially passed. However, a motion to “Pass the Hat” did not pass, resulting in a friendly amendment to remove the projected “pass the hat” yearly contribution from the budget.

â—Ź Committee Updates:
  â—‹ The registrar reminded new GSRs to complete the New GSR form.
  â—‹ The Public Information chair shared updates on recent and upcoming outreach visits
  â—‹ The Website chair highlighted new user-friendly navigation tools added to the site.

The next Area Service Committee (ASC) meeting was announced for April 12th in Laguna Niguel.

    • Written in 1965: It was authored by former AA trustee Al S. specifically for the 1965 International Convention in Toronto. • Conference Approved: The General Service Conference affirmed its exact spirit and wording in 1971 and again in 1977, noting that the declaration should never be changed. • Bill W.'s Endorsement: It was famously recited by AA co-founder Bill W. alongside 100 other members at the Toronto convention to emphasize the fellowship’s global duty to suffering alcoholics.
